Learning to play the piano is one of the most magical things that you can do. And the good thing is that it doesn’t depend on your age or your mobility. It is a hobby that you can take up at any age and become reasonably proficient quite quickly.

Now, you may not become a virtuoso pianist, but if you put in regular practice, then their is a great opportunity for you to become pleasingly good on the instrument. At least enough to be able to tickle the ivories and give yourself pleasure from playing.

One aspect that can help to learn the piano is by adopting the piano play along style of playing, where you play along to tunes that you like. In that way you are able to learn on music that you actually like, which is a big help in the learning process.

You can find out here more about the Piano Play Along style.

Learning to play the piano is a fantastic way to spend your free time, and if you use the piano play along method then you will not only learn quickly, but will also be learning to songs that you enjoy and would like to play. The difference between that and more traditional ways of learning the piano really is immense. Because it is all together more satisfying to learn when you are directly seeing results. And yet for many years the piano play along method was not the norm, because people would more commonly be taught by rote learning chords, a bit like the same way that they would learn their times tables! Not fun.

Here is the piano play along method that I use >> (Works Great!)

Piano Play Along Lessons vs The Rest

It used to be the case that the only people who ever managed to learn the piano properly were either extremely patient and doggedly determined to learn the piano “no matter what”, or else had extremely pushy parents who would cajole them every step of the way to learn the piano, and chastise them when they didn’t do their practice.

Neither of these two scenarios is ideal, because in the first case, whilst admirable, the truth is that playing the piano should be a wonderful and uplifting experience. Not one that is somewhat akin to pulling teeth! In the second case, what tends to happen is that as soon as mum and dad aren’t around , or the child reaches their teenage years, they get sufficiently wilful to refuse point blank to learn the piano any more. And it is only when they reach their 30’s or 40’s that a lingering feeling comes into their mind that they wished they had persevered all those years ago!

I know how that feels! That is why I opted to use this to learn the piano >>

But the truth is that had they have been taught in a slightly more forgiving way all those years previously, they would never have given up in the first place, and would now be happily tinkling away on the ivories with jazz tunes, classical pieces and pop anthems that they had grown up with. This is because the best way to learn the piano is using a piano play along method to actually interact with and play along with songs that the person playing the piano is genuinely interested in. And not bored to tears by. At the end of the day learning the piano has to be fun, because all of us have endless calls on our time, and there are any number of ways that we can spend our free time. There is simply no need for us to spend it doing things that are not fun. And we have been fooled by early experiences with the piano to believe that its all metronomes, scales and stern looking piano teachers trying to drum classical ditties into us that we really don’t like all that much.

Piano Play Along… The Future

So, where does that leave us right now? Well, where we are currently at is that the internet has provided us with an amazing medium to finally deliver piano instruction in an interactive way that is not only enjoyable to learn, but also enhances the learning process so that everything gets internalised much more quickly. The good thing about us as people wishing to learn the piano, is that you can make much more rapid progress with a piano play along style of music instruction, because it is much more intuitive to learn.

Here is the system I used to learn >>

To get going and to check it out for yourself you can immediately get access to six free piano lessons here that will give you a good idea of what’s involved. If you like what you see then you can take it from there. If not, then just enjoy the lessons and soak up the wonderful feeling that you really can be great at the piano, and in a much quicker time frame then you will have ever thought possible. Tap into the piano play along method and see what you have been missing out on!

If you are looking to play the piano easily and effortlessly then the easiest way to learn is the piano play along technique, where you listen to songs that you like and then play them back. In many ways this runs counter to traditional piano instruction where they have you learning endless chords and musical theory and notation, but not actually doing much in the way of playing songs on the piano that you like!

I came across this method when I decided to learn how to play the piano a little later in life, and realised that most of the piano courses seemed to be aimed at boring the pants of the students trying to learn to play the piano! I wanted to learn by playing along to songs that I like, a ‘piano play along’ technique if you will. But it wasn’t until I came across this piano course that everything really fell into place for me. At last! Piano lessons that are actually fun! What a concept!

This is unfortunate, because learning the piano is a a great thing to do if you have the right instructor and approach it in the right way, but it can be very off-putting if you start out by trying to learn the piano in a way that leaves you feeling frustrated, and not actually doing the thing that is the reason you are learning to play, namely sit down at the piano or the keyboard and be able to relax by playing the songs that you like.

Instead, you should do this >>

How To Learn The Piano Play Along Method

It used to be the case that in order to learn to play the piano you would have to find a local piano teacher. Which could end up being very much of a lottery in terms of how good they were at teaching. If they were very passionate and enthused to teach, then that would certainly help. But the fact remains that good pianists, even passionate pianists, don’t necessarily make the best teachers.

I discovered this as I went along. But, because learning the piano is a gradual process that you build on day by day, it is very important that in the early days of learning your enthusiasm isn’t snuffed out by endless chord progressions, having to play scales or playing 3 blind mice over and over again until you might physically explode if you ever saw a blind mouse for real!

A better way is to use piano play along techniques that involve you more in playing songs that you actually like, and that you can play along with (I discuss more about piano play along lessons in this article). It is this approach that lies at the heart of many of the new breed of piano lessons that you can find online, because the internet has literally revolutionised the way that music can be taught.

Click here to see how I learned to play the piano and still enjoy it >>

It is no longer necessary to only see one version of how you should play a song. You can literally see dozens if you look for them online, and online piano instruction now very much takes that approach to heart by utilising piano play along techniques where you play along with your favourite songs from the very start, and also actually learn to play sings that you genuinely like.

The Piano Play Along Formula…

The piano play along formula is quite easy to learn and enjoyable to play along with. Start by playing along with songs you like. Don’t waste time on spending hours learning chords, instead learn them as you need to use them, and thirdly practice little but often so that some kind of piano practice becomes a daily ritual for you. The irony of doing things in this step by step fashion, rather than bombarding you with theory, is that you will then stick with the piano, and end up learning to read sheet music and all that other ‘music theory’ in any case, because you will be more enthused to learn. Its simply that it won’t come at the expense of actually sitting down at a piano and enjoying playing for fun.

The piano course I like can be found here. You can even get 6 FREE piano lessons straight away, to test it out, that will teach you how to play Amazing Grace using this method.

Learning piano really should be lots of fun, so don’t be put off by thoughts of metronomes, or chord scales or frosty piano teachers. It is now much easier then ever to learn the piano, and if you choose the right way to learn then it can bring a smile to your face every single day.
